Learning Support Assistant

Location: Andover, Hampshire
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

We are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join specialist schools across the Andover area for a September 2026 start.

These schools support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex learning difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an excellent opportunity to begin or develop a rewarding career within specialist education while making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals. You will play an important role in creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to succeed.

Schools offer small class sizes, experienced staff teams, and a collaborative approach to supporting both pupils and employees, with training and ongoing professional development provided.

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils

• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning resources where appropriate

• Encourage engagement, confidence, and participation in learning

• Support the development of communication, social, and independence skills

• Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies

• Help create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment

• Work collaboratively with teachers, Teaching Assistants, therapists, and other professionals

• Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and daily routines

Depending on the setting, you may work with pupils who require structured educational support, or those who benefit from additional emotional and behavioural guidance within a nurturing environment.
