Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking for your next opportunity in education?
We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Bedford for a Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026 for the full academic year. This is a full-time temporary position through an education recruitment agency, offering the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a career in teaching or educational psychology, or for experienced Learning Support Assistants with relevant qualifications and a passion for supporting secondary-aged students.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Work closely with teachers to support learning within the classroom.
- Deliver targeted interventions to help students achieve their academic potential.
- Encourage students' confidence, independence and engagement in lessons.
- Support students with a range of learning needs, adapting your approach to meet individual requirements.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Help promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Previous experience working with secondary school students (essential).
- A degree or relevant qualifications in education, childcare or a related field (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, proactive and flexible approach to supporting young people.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is highly desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or hold a current DBS registered on the Update Service).
- Right to work in the UK.
- A commitment to working for the full academic year from September 2026.
- Full-time hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.
