A supportive and inclusive specialist educational setting in Yeovil is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join its experienced team on a full-time basis with an immediate start available.

This rewarding opportunity would suit somebody passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs while helping create a positive and engaging learning environment.

The successful candidate will work closely alongside teachers and wider support staff to ensure pupils feel encouraged, understood, and supported throughout the school day.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils requiring additional academic, emotional, and behavioural guidance.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Assisting with classroom learning activities
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Helping pupils manage transitions and routines
  • Promoting positive communication and social interaction
  • Assisting teaching staff with classroom preparation and organisation
  • Creating a calm and nurturing environment for learners

The setting supports children and young people with autism, communication difficulties, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.

The successful candidate will be patient, adaptable, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.

Previous experience within education, childcare, youth mentoring, care, residential support, coaching, or behavioural support would be highly beneficial, although applicants with transferable skills and a positive attitude are strongly encouraged to apply.
