If you’re someone who genuinely enjoys helping children thrive and wants to be part of a setting where every small step matters, this could be a really rewarding role for you.
I’m working with a specialist SEN school in the NG10 area looking for a full-time Learning Support Assistant to join them as soon as possible. This is initially a temporary position, with the potential to become permanent for the right person.
The school supports children and young people aged 2–19 with Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), offering personalised learning pathways that are built around each pupil’s individual needs. It’s a through school, so you’ll be part of a setting that supports pupils from their earliest years right through to Post-16 preparation for adulthood.
This isn’t a “sit at the back of the classroom” kind of role — it’s hands-on, meaningful work where you’ll be supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs including autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, medical needs, and personal care requirements.
The environment itself is brilliant for SEN support — sensory-rich, well-equipped, and designed around helping pupils feel safe, engaged, and able to learn in ways that work for them. There are large outdoor learning spaces, sensory rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, forest school provision, soft-mobility areas, rebound therapy facilities, and strong therapeutic links across speech and language, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, visual and hearing support services, and social care.
They’re looking for someone calm, patient, and genuinely invested in helping children reach their potential. Previous experience working with SEN is highly desirable, especially if you’ve supported pupils with SLD or complex needs, but just as important is the right attitude — someone who can build trust, stay positive, and bring consistency to the school day.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
