Teaching Assistants – September Start

Location: Basingstoke
Hours: Monday–Friday, Term Time Only
Pay: £14.25 per hour

We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants for two specialist schools in Basingstoke, with roles starting this September.

One setting supports pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, complex learning needs and communication difficulties. The other is a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) provision, where strong relationships and consistent boundaries are key to success.

Both schools offer structured, supportive environments where staff work collaboratively to help pupils thrive both academically and personally.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs

  • Adapting classroom activities to support different learning styles

  • Supporting communication, interaction and social development

  • Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Assisting with de-escalation when required, in line with school policies

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams

  • SEN School: Focus on structured learning, routine and communication support

  • SEMH School: Emphasis on building trust, acting as a positive role model and supporting behaviour and emotional development

These roles can be challenging but are incredibly rewarding. They offer the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact on young people who need additional support.

We welcome applicants who are:

  • Resilient, patient and empathetic

  • Passionate about supporting young people

  • Strong team players with a proactive attitude

Previous experience in a similar setting is beneficial but not essential — full training and support will be provided.

Following your application, we will discuss which setting (SEN or SEMH) best suits your skills, experience and career goals.

  • A DBS check will be required for the successful applicant

If you’re ready to take the next step into a meaningful and impactful role, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today by sending your up-to-date CV.
