We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join an Ofsted good secondary school in Denton on a full-time basis, starting after May half term until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.

Role Overview:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students across various subjects and year groups, ensuring they receive the guidance, resources, and encouragement needed to succeed. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Individual Support: Providing one-to-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance with their learning. You will help students understand and engage with subject content, complete assignments, and develop essential study skills. Collaborating with subject teachers, you will reinforce learning objectives and adapt your support to meet individual learning needs.

  2. Classroom Assistance: Working closely with teaching staff to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment. You will assist in delivering lessons, preparing materials, and implementing behaviour management strategies to promote a positive and productive classroom atmosphere.

  3. Resource Management: Organising and maintaining a range of learning resources, including textbooks, worksheets, and technology, to support effective teaching and independent study. You will ensure resources are accessible, relevant, and used efficiently to enhance student learning across different subjects.

  4. Assessment and Feedback: Assisting teachers in assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and monitoring academic achievements. You will contribute to the preparation and marking of assignments, exams, and coursework, helping to identify areas for improvement and celebrate student successes.

  5. Communication and Collaboration: Building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers to foster a collaborative approach to learning support. You will communicate regularly with key stakeholders, sharing updates on student progress, discussing strategies for improvement, and providing feedback to inform teaching practice.

  6. Behaviour and Wellbeing: Supporting students' social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour, and contributing to a nurturing and inclusive school environment. You will work proactively to address any behavioural or emotional challenges, providing guidance, encouragement, and pastoral care as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an educational setting or a similar support role is desirable but not essential.
