Teaching Personnel are working with SEN Schools across Frome, who are looking for Teaching Assistants to join their team. The schools can cater for pupils aged 4-19 years with Autism, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLS & SLD) and Complex needs. The schools follow the National Curriculum and have small class sizes of around 6-8 pupils.

Your duties may include:

  • Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, and first aid and welfare matters.
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, being aware of, and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Prepare classroom as directed for lessons, clear afterwards, and assist with the display of pupils work.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behavior, reporting difficulties as appropriate

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, pro-active person who has a real passion for supporting children with special needs. Experience in a school setting is not required, but you should have some experience working with children or adults with special needs.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, term time only. Generally school hours are between 08:30 - 15:45. We currently have full time and part time opportunities available (part time must be able to work the full school hours but we can offer less days in the week).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
