This College is a 52-week residential specialist college providing quality care and education for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 with a diagnosis of autism, or whose difficulties place them on the autistic continuum. Students often have complex needs, associated learning difficulties and behaviours of concern. The curriculum has been devised to prepare students for adulthood and to equip them with the skills and knowledge to achieve their personal best in adult life.

This is delivered in a variety of settings, including within students’ homes, vocational placements both internally and externally. As well as learning within in the classrooms, young people take part in various outdoor activities such as animal therapy and various activities based around nature throughout the college sites.

Purpose and Summary of the Job

  • To support the delivery of the curriculum
  • Providing in session support to engage and progress learning for students
  • Supporting the Tutor with resources, session delivery and planning
  • Prepare students for adulthood by developing independence, supporting inclusion within communities and providing vocational pathways to employment

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about education and committed to fostering independence and a passion for lifelong learning. Working as part of a committed team, we need someone who can cater for the diverse needs of students, therefore, you need to be:

It is essential you have classroom experience or experience supporting children or adults with special needs.

The school is not easily accessed by public transport so it is essential you drive and have access to a vehicle.

Working hours are 08:30 - 16:30, Monday - Friday. Term time only. We also have options for TA's to work part time. You must be able to work the full school hours but can work less days in the week.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
