We are a small, independent SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision based in Chorley, supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils. Our setting offers a structured, nurturing environment for young people who require additional support to engage positively in education.


We are looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our team on a temporary to permanent basis with an immediate start.

The successful candidate will support pupils with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to access learning, develop positive behaviours, and build emotional resilience.


  • Provide support for pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and intervention settings
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with pupils
  • Assist in managing behaviour in line with the provision’s policies
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
  • A flexible and proactive attitude

Desirable:

  • Team Teach or similar de-escalation training
  • Experience within alternative provision, PRU, or specialist settings

  • A supportive and close-knit working environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
