Learning Support Assistant 

Teaching Personnel are looking specifically for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join the team, supporting students between 4 and 11 with Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH). 

The centre aims to reengage young people excluded from mainstream education with learning, in as normal a school environment as possible. Supporting pupil’s transition back into the community and education, with a focus on a child-centred and trauma informed approach.  Students are taught in mixed ability and mixed aged teaching groups of up to 8 and teaching staff are reflective and plan accordingly for learners’ individual social/ emotional/ mental health needs. Your job as Learning Support Assistant will be to assist in the classroom, work 1-1 and in small groups with students under direction of the teacher.

Ideally you will have experience of working with challenging behaviour within an education setting; however, this is not essential as long as you can demonstrate a commitment to supporting vulnerable students with SEMH needs in a specialist environment.

You will need to have suitable references and a DBS certificate (or be eligible to apply).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
