We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Clitheroe, Lancashire from November 2026 until April 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, you will provide targeted academic, emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them to engage positively with school life and improve their outcomes.

The Role

As a Learning Mentor, you will:

• Build positive and trusting relationships with students across Years 7–11.
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Identify and address barriers to learning, working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents/carers.
• Support students who may be vulnerable, disengaged or at risk of underachievement.
• Monitor, record and evaluate student progress and intervention outcomes.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience, self-esteem and independence.
• Assist students during lessons and throughout the school day as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with young people within a school, youth work, mentoring or pastoral support setting.
• A passion for helping students overcome challenges and achieve success.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation abilities.
• A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
