Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Planning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.
  • Develop inclusive lesson plans that cater to diverse abilities and learning styles.
  • Create a stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and personal growth.

Classroom Teaching

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stage 2.
  • Support pupils in developing essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.
  • Promote independence, curiosity, and a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage and motivate all pupils.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom atmosphere.

Assessment and Progress Tracking

  • Employ formative and summative assessments to monitor pupil progress effectively.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support individual development.
  • Keep accurate records of attainment and progress in accordance with school policies.

Differentiation and Individualised Support

  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and higher-attaining pupils.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching assistants to deliver targeted interventions where necessary.
  • Ensure every pupil receives appropriate support and challenge to thrive.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed about pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and senior leaders.
  • Contribute proactively to staff meetings, training sessions, and school events, including parents' evenings.

Professional Development

  • Stay informed of developments in primary education and Key Stage 2 best practise.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A degree in Education or a relevant discipline (a Master's degree is desirable).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 2 or equivalent settings.
  • Strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum, including literacy and numeracy.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A genuine passion for primary education and fostering an inclusive, engaging classroom environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
