Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Planning
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.
- Design inclusive lesson plans that address diverse abilities and learning styles.
- Foster a stimulating classroom environment that promotes curiosity and development.
Classroom Teaching
- Provide high-quality teaching across Key Stage 2.
- Support pupils in developing key skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.
- Encourage independence, curiosity, and a lifelong passion for learning.
- Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage and motivate all pupils.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom atmosphere.
Assessment and Progress Tracking
- Use both formative and summative assessments to monitor pupil progress effectively.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support individual development.
- Keep accurate records of attainment and progress in line with school policies.
Differentiation and Individualised Support
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and higher-attaining pupils.
- Work closely with teaching assistants to deliver targeted interventions as required.
- Ensure every pupil receives appropriate support and challenge to thrive.
Communication and Collaboration
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed about pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and senior leaders.
- Contribute actively to staff meetings, training sessions, and school events, including parents' evenings.
Professional Development
- Keep abreast of developments in primary education and Key Stage 2 best practises.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching expertise and subject knowledge.
The Ideal Candidate
- A degree in Education or a relevant discipline (a Master's degree is advantageous).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching within Key Stage 2 or equivalent settings.
- Strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum, including literacy and numeracy.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for primary education and fostering an inclusive, engaging classroom environment.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
