Teaching Personnel are currently partnering with a supportive and inclusive primary school in the Vale of Glamorgan to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work with pupils in Key Stage 2.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. The role will involve providing targeted support to pupils who require additional assistance with behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and classroom engagement.

The school is seeking a resilient, patient, and proactive individual who can build positive relationships with pupils while helping to create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment.

As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the wider support team to provide consistent support for KS2 pupils who may display challenging behaviours or require additional emotional and behavioural guidance throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils to engage positively with their learning and achieve their individual targets.
  • Using behaviour management strategies to promote positive choices and minimise disruptions within the classroom.
  • Building strong professional relationships that encourage trust, confidence, and emotional growth.
  • Supporting children who may face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
  • Acting as a positive role model and helping pupils develop self-regulation skills.
  • Working on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to deliver targeted interventions.
  • Collaborating with teachers, ALN staff, and parents to ensure consistency in support strategies.
  • Encouraging resilience, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Assisting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and other unstructured periods of the school day.

This position would be ideal for individuals who are confident managing behaviour, building positive relationships, and supporting children who require additional guidance to succeed in school.

Previous school experience is welcomed but not essential. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in:

  • Behaviour support roles.
  • Teaching Assistant and Learning Support positions.
  • Youth work and mentoring.
  • Sports coaching.
  • Residential childcare.
  • Care and support work.
  • Alternative provision settings.
  • Psychology, Criminology, Education, or Childhood Studies graduates.
  • Individuals with experience supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

The successful candidate will be calm under pressure, consistent in their approach, and committed to helping every child succeed regardless of the challenges they may face.

  • Competitive weekly pay through PAYE.
  • Full-time and long-term opportunities within local primary schools.
  • Access to accredited CPD and behaviour management training.
