KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant New

A caring and inclusive primary school is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support within Key Stage 1. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within a supportive classroom environment.

The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff to deliver tailored support that meets the individual needs of pupils, both academically and socially.

Salary: £14.25 - £16 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: Monday 2^nd November 2026 or ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist children in accessing the KS1 curriculum through differentiated activities and targeted support.
• Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
• Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs, IEPs, and support plans.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through consistent routines and encouragement.
• Deliver interventions to support literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to support ongoing assessment.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where all pupils can thrive.

You will need:

• Experience supporting children with SEN within a primary school setting.
• Knowledge of KS1 curriculum expectations and child development.
• A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable.
• Understanding of Autism, ADHD, and other additional learning needs.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
