Exciting Opportunity: Inclusion Unit Mentor

We are currently seeking a dedicated Inclusion Unit Mentor to join our team at a highly regarded secondary school in Levenshulme. With an Ofsted rating of 'Good', the school is committed to providing high-quality education and support to all students.

Role Overview:

As an Inclusion Unit Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the inclusion unit and working closely with students who may require additional assistance due to various challenges they may face. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Mentoring and Support: Providing one-to-one mentoring and support to students who may have behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties, helping them to overcome challenges, develop coping strategies, and succeed academically and personally.

  2. Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour management strategies and techniques to support students in managing their emotions and behaviours, promoting self-regulation and positive social interactions within the inclusion unit and mainstream classrooms.

  3. Emotional Well-being: Supporting students' emotional well-being and mental health, providing a safe and nurturing environment where they feel valued, respected, and supported in addressing their individual needs and concerns.

  4. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement tailored support plans for students, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional needs are met effectively.

  5. Progress Monitoring: Monitoring students' progress and outcomes, tracking their academic and behavioural development, and providing regular feedback to teachers and stakeholders to inform intervention strategies and support plans.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting students facing various challenges, demonstrating a non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques, with the ability to implement and adapt strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment, prioritising student well-being and success.
