Role Overview:

As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Humanities department and assisting students in their understanding of subjects such as history, geography, and religious studies. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Collaborating with Humanities teachers to deliver engaging and informative lessons, providing one-to-one or small group support to students who may require additional assistance with comprehension, research, or exam preparation.

  2. Subject Knowledge: Utilizing your expertise in history, geography, or religious studies to support students in understanding key concepts, events, and themes, fostering a deeper appreciation for the subject matter.

  3. Resource Creation: Assisting in the development of teaching resources, including worksheets, presentations, and interactive activities, to enhance students' learning experiences and facilitate their engagement with the curriculum.

  4. Research Assistance: Supporting students in conducting research for projects, assignments, and coursework, guiding them in effective research methods, critical analysis, and presentation of findings.

  5. Extra-Curricular Activities: Organizing and participating in extracurricular activities related to the Humanities subjects, such as history club, geography field trips, or religious studies discussions, to enrich students' learning beyond the classroom.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a Humanities-related subject, such as history, geography, religious studies, or a related field, from a reputable university.
  • A passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and colleagues.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a keen interest in history, geography, or religious studies, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to the overall success of the Humanities department.
