A welcoming school in Bolton is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dedicated team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with additional needs while working within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Working primarily across Key Stages 3 and 4, you will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with additional learning needs and behaviours that may challenge.

You will work across 1:1, small group, and whole-class settings, helping pupils access learning, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.

As an HLTA, you will also work closely with teaching staff, delivering targeted interventions and supporting the smooth running of lessons.

  • Provide high-quality 1:1, small group, and classroom-based support.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, learning activities, and classroom management.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and lead learning activities where appropriate.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals.
  • Demonstrate resilience, patience, and adaptability when supporting complex needs.
  • Offer guidance and support to other teaching assistants when required.
  • HLTA qualification or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience within specialist schools, PRUs, SEMH settings, or supporting challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, proactive, and resilient approach.
  • Confidence supporting and mentoring other support staff.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential.
  • Competitive daily rates of £100 - £125.
