A Pupil Referral Unit in Darlington are looking for an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant to start full time ASAP, who can work alongside the teaching staff and deliver 1:1 when appropriate.

The school is a Pupil Referral Unit which provides education for those pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school. The school also offers a provision for those pupils with medical/mental health needs which prevent them from accessing their mainstream place. It is a very small school which is currently able to offer 40 pupil places.  This comprises of up to 20 places at the main site and up to 20 places at the medical site.

The successful candidate:

  • will have excellent literacy & IT skills
  • will contribute towards the whole school and the well-being of all who attend
  • will be able to plan and deliver interventions across the school
  • will be confident in their approach to behaviour management
  • have experience of working with children with SEND/SEMH/challenging behaviour
  • will have high expectations about raising standards across the school
  • will be flexible and innovative in their approach
  • experience of working within an SEN setting would be desirable
