Are you an experienced HLTA who thrives on supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are recruiting on behalf of a supportive secondary school in Rochdale for a confident and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work with students who display challenging behaviour and have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong behaviour management skills who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

The Role:

  • Full-time position based in a secondary school in Rochdale.
  • Support students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Deliver planned interventions and provide targeted academic and pastoral support.
  • Lead lessons and supervise classes when required.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, the SEND team and pastoral colleagues to support students' progress and wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and improved behaviour.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working within UK secondary schools.
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach, with the ability to build trust and motivate students.
