HISTORY TEACHER
Location: Aylesbury
Start: September 2026
Full Time: Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £29,344–£44,919
What students think History is
Dates. Names. Facts to memorise. Things that already happened
What you teach them it actually is
Cause and consequence
Power and decision-making
Perspective and interpretation
What you do in the classroom
At the start of a lesson, students may expect to copy notes
By the end, they are explaining events in their own words
You will
Teach History across KS3 and KS4 using clear, structured lessons
Break down complex events into understandable steps
Guide students through source analysis and interpretation
Support extended writing with clear frameworks and modelling
Reinforce subject-specific vocabulary consistently
Challenge students to justify opinions with evidence
Prepare pupils for GCSE assessment in a way that builds confidence, not pressure
What your teaching builds over time
Students stop guessing and start explaining
They understand cause and consequence, not just outcomes
They structure answers instead of listing facts
They engage in debate without losing focus
Professional requirements
Experience teaching History or strong subject knowledge
Confidence working with KS3 and KS4 students
Ability to maintain structure in both teaching and behaviour
QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly candidates with strong History, Politics, or Humanities backgrounds
