September Start | Cambridgeshire

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Cambridgeshire to recruit qualified and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) for full-time and part-time positions starting in September.

We are supporting schools with long-term and permanent opportunities across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. These roles are ideal for experienced HLTAs looking to secure a position ahead of the new academic year, whether you are seeking consistency, progression, or a new school environment.

A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the range of school locations, but not essential.


The Role
As an HLTA working through Teaching Personnel, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and lead whole-class teaching when required
  • Support the class teacher with planning and classroom delivery
  • Lead small group interventions and targeted support sessions
  • Provide high-quality 1:1 support where needed
  • Support pupils with a range of abilities, including those with additional needs
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a structured learning environment
  • Contribute to the overall teaching and learning within the classroom

A Typical Day May Include

  • Covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Delivering planned lessons across a range of subjects
  • Supporting pupils' learning across the curriculum
  • Leading intervention groups to boost attainment
  • Assisting with planning and preparation of resources
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively
  • Providing feedback to teachers on pupil progress
  • Supporting wider school activities where required

Who We're Looking For

  • Essential: HLTA qualification or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Essential: recent and relevant UK-based experience in a primary school setting
  • Experience covering classes and delivering lessons
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A confident, proactive, and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
