Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) - Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Cambridgeshire to recruit qualified and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) for full-time and part-time positions starting in September.
We are supporting schools with long-term and permanent opportunities across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. These roles are ideal for experienced HLTAs looking to secure a position ahead of the new academic year, whether you are seeking consistency, progression, or a new school environment.
A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the range of school locations, but not essential.
The Role
As an HLTA working through Teaching Personnel, you will:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and lead whole-class teaching when required
- Support the class teacher with planning and classroom delivery
- Lead small group interventions and targeted support sessions
- Provide high-quality 1:1 support where needed
- Support pupils with a range of abilities, including those with additional needs
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a structured learning environment
- Contribute to the overall teaching and learning within the classroom
A Typical Day May Include
- Covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- Delivering planned lessons across a range of subjects
- Supporting pupils' learning across the curriculum
- Leading intervention groups to boost attainment
- Assisting with planning and preparation of resources
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively
- Providing feedback to teachers on pupil progress
- Supporting wider school activities where required
Who We're Looking For
- Essential: HLTA qualification or equivalent recognised qualification
- Essential: recent and relevant UK-based experience in a primary school setting
- Experience covering classes and delivering lessons
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A confident, proactive, and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
