Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Wigan
Start Date: ASAP / Flexible
Contract: Full Time

A larger-than-average primary school in Wigan is looking to appoint an experienced HLTA to support teaching and learning across the school. This is a varied and rewarding role that will involve both classroom support and whole-class cover.

The school is known for its collaborative team and strong support for support staff stepping into more advanced roles.

Key Duties Include:

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons across KS1 and KS2 during teacher absence
  • Leading targeted interventions in English and Maths
  • Supporting pupils with a range of abilities, including SEND
  • Assisting with planning and preparation of resources
  • Supporting assessment and progress tracking where required
  • Providing flexibility to cover across different year groups

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold HLTA status or have significant experience in a similar role
  • Be confident managing a classroom independently
  • Have strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Be adaptable, reliable and proactive
  • Have experience supporting both KS1 and KS2 pupils
