A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Anfield (L6) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide high-quality PPA cover across the school. This is a full-time position starting in September 2026, initially offered on a 2-year fixed-term contract, with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

This one-form entry primary school serves a diverse and vibrant local community and has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in all areas. The school is committed to delivering an engaging, inclusive curriculum that supports every child to achieve their full potential. The Role

As a HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and support staff across the school to deliver engaging lessons during teachers’ PPA time. You will be responsible for maintaining continuity of learning, ensuring pupils remain motivated, challenged and supported throughout the school day.

This varied role will see you working across different year groups, making it an excellent opportunity for a confident practitioner who enjoys building positive relationships with pupils and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned lessons across a range of year groups and curriculum subjects.
  • Provide effective PPA cover while maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the differing needs of learners.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to ensure a clear understanding of pupil needs and learning objectives.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • HLTA status or a relevant degree qualification.
  • Previous experience delivering lessons within a primary school setting.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The confidence to work independently across different year groups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, flexible and professional approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
