An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced professional to join a rapidly improving secondary school in Reading as the Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL). This permanent position is available from September or sooner, depending on the candidate's availability.

The successful candidate will lead the MFL department, inspiring and guiding students and staff alike. They will play a crucial role in shaping the language curriculum, promoting a love for languages, and ensuring high academic standards.

Key Responsibilities:
*Leading and managing the MFL department, including staff development and performance management.
*Developing and implementing an innovative and effective MFL curriculum.
*Monitoring and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning within the department.
*Supporting and mentoring MFL teachers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
*Tracking student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment and achievement in languages.
*Organizing and overseeing language-related extracurricular activities and events.
*Liaising with parents, senior leadership, and external bodies to promote the MFL department and its initiatives.

Requirements:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
*A degree in a Modern Foreign Language or a related field.
*Proven experience in teaching MFL at the secondary school level.
*Demonstrable experience in a leadership or management role within an educational setting.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
*A passion for languages and a commitment to promoting multilingualism and cultural understanding.
*Ability to motivate and inspire both students and staff.
*Commitment to ongoing professional development and a reflective approach to practice.

Desirable:
*Experience with curriculum design and implementation.
*Proficiency in multiple foreign languages.
*Experience with data analysis and using data to inform teaching practices.
