An Ofsted rated GOOD secondary school in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and experienced Humanities Head of Department to join their vibrant and forward-thinking team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic leader with a passion for Humanities to make a significant impact on the academic and personal development of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Humanities department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement an innovative curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and implement strategies to support student achievement.
  • Provide professional development opportunities and support for Humanities teachers.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to support whole-school initiatives and goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national curriculum changes and educational best practices.


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in a Humanities-related subject.
  • Significant experience teaching Humanities at the secondary school level.
  • Proven leadership experience, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in training and development opportunities.


  • Experience with curriculum design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted inspection frameworks and requirements.
  • A postgraduate qualification in education or a related field.
