We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you will play a key role in supporting students' learning, development, and wellbeing. This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to gain hands-on classroom experience and develop their skills within an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students with literacy, numeracy, communication, and other areas of their academic development.
- Support students who may have additional learning needs, including SEND, helping them to engage positively with their learning.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, social skills, and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Help create a positive, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and curiosity.
- Provide appropriate pastoral and emotional support to students, helping to promote their wellbeing and engagement in school.
- Support teachers with classroom preparation, displays, resources, and learning materials.
- Monitor and provide feedback on students' progress, behaviour, and engagement, communicating any concerns to the class teacher or relevant staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, teaching assistants, parents, and the wider school team.
- Support students during break times, lunchtimes, school activities, trips, and other wider school initiatives where required.
- Develop your understanding of effective teaching, classroom management, safeguarding, and inclusive education.
- Take part in training and professional development opportunities to support your development within education.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
- The ability to support students across a range of abilities and learning needs.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions effectively.
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to supporting teachers and students.
- The ability to promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm and supportive learning environment.
- A willingness to learn and develop professionally within an educational setting.
- A commitment to inclusion and ensuring all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
