Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across various subjects, providing assistance to both students and teachers to ensure the smooth running of classrooms and the academic progress of all students. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering lessons by providing one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them to understand concepts, complete tasks, and stay focused on their learning objectives.

  2. Resource Preparation: Preparing teaching materials, resources, and equipment for lessons, ensuring that classrooms are set up and organised to facilitate effective teaching and learning activities.

  3. Behaviour Management: Supporting teachers in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive discipline, implementing strategies and interventions to create a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.

  4. Individualised Support: Providing targeted intervention and support to students with special educational needs or learning difficulties, tailoring your approach to meet their specific needs and learning styles.

  5. Assessment and Feedback: Assisting teachers in assessing student progress and performance, providing feedback and encouragement to students to help them improve their work and achieve their academic goals.

  6. Extracurricular Activities: Getting involved in extracurricular activities and enrichment programmes, such as sports clubs, arts workshops, or academic competitions, to support students' personal and social development outside of the classroom.

Requirements:

  • A degree in any subject area, with a strong academic background and a genuine interest in pursuing a career in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and other members of the school community.
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and a proactive approach to supporting teaching and learning, with a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subjects and year groups, responding to the needs of students and teachers as required.
  • Commitment to professional development and a desire to learn and grow as an educational practitioner.
