At Teaching Personnel, we are working with a supportive and inclusive school in South Shields to recruit a passionate Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, counselling, or youth work. You'll gain first-hand experience in a classroom environment while supporting pupils both academically and personally.

The school prides itself on creating a culture built around ambition, kindness, respect, and inclusion - ensuring every pupil feels supported, safe, and encouraged to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Supporting positive behaviour and classroom engagement
  • Encouraging a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate
  • Gaining valuable practical experience within a school setting

We are looking for graduates who are:

  • Educated to degree level (all subject backgrounds considered)
  • Passionate about working with children and young people
  • Positive, adaptable, and eager to learn
  • Confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills
  • Committed to supporting pupils' wellbeing and development
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a school team
  • Experienced working with young people (desirable but not essential)
  • In possession of an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one
  • A fantastic first step into a career in education
  • Full-time experience within a supportive school environment
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant
  • Access to professional development and CPD opportunities
  • Opportunity to develop classroom confidence and transferable skills
  • A rewarding role where no two days are the same

If you're enthusiastic, motivated, and ready to inspire young people while developing your own professional experience, we'd love to hear from you.
