Graduate Opportunities in Education - SEN & SEMH Settings
Chorley & Leyland | Full-Time & Flexible Roles | September Start

Are you a recent graduate looking to take your first step into education?

We are working with a range of specialist schools across Chorley and Leyland that are seeking motivated, resilient, and enthusiastic graduates to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs from September.

These roles are ideal for individuals considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or social care, offering hands-on experience in supportive and well-structured school environments.

As a Graduate Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. You may be working on a 1:1 basis or with small groups, helping to manage behaviour, support learning, and build positive relationships.

Each setting is different, but all provide structured support, training, and guidance to help you develop confidence and skills in the role.

  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, and SEMH
  • Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities
  • Helping to manage behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Encouraging engagement, independence, and emotional regulation
  • A recent graduate (any subject considered)
  • A genuine interest in working with children or young people
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential (e.g. coaching, mentoring, tutoring, care work)
  • Full-time and flexible roles to suit your availability
  • Ongoing training and CPD opportunities
  • Experience across a variety of SEN and SEMH settings
  • A pathway into teacher training or long-term roles in education
  • Support from an experienced education recruitment team

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in education while making a real difference to the lives of young people.
