We are seeking a dedicated and passionate GCSE Tutor to provide tailored educational support to learners in the CA3 area of Carlisle. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised tuition during weekday school hours, supporting students preparing for their GCSE examinations, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will help learners build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, and achieve their academic goals.

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 GCSE tuition sessions tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support students in GCSE English, Maths, Science, and other subjects as required.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit different abilities and learning styles.
  • Identify learning gaps and implement targeted intervention strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and relevant professionals.
  • Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independent learning.
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
  • Experience delivering GCSE-level tuition.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
  • Strong understanding of the UK curriculum and GCSE requirements.
  • Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education.
  • Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs, targeted intervention strategies, and GCSE exam preparation techniques.
  • Flexible part-time hours during school hours on weekdays.
