Future Teacher’s Programme

Are you a recent University Graduate living in Manchester?

Are you wanting to become a teacher but need the experience in order to get onto the PGCE?

Are you available full-time and can commute to Secondary Schools around South Manchester?

Do you have a passion for working with young people and can adapt to new challenges?

Teaching Personnel are the leading Education Recruitment Agency in England and Wales and work closely with school’s as their priority recruitment partner. Helping to staff schools with strong candidates across multiple departments in both temporary and permanent roles, we have been a staple recruitment partner for schools since 1996. One of our focus areas is helping to support young graduates who are looking to get into teaching, but find that they need experience within the classroom in order to get onto the PGCE training course. We match graduates with appropriate Teaching Assistant roles in schools whereby you gain hands-on classroom experience that will benefit your future career whilst also getting paid to do so.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be working in either 1:1 or small group settings with students across multiple age groups, helping to support them with their school work. You will liaise with class teachers to agree upon areas in which you can support the students best and also to report feedback on how the students are progressing. It is a good opportunity to build a strong rapport with students and will help you gain an insight into how young people work and some of the difficulties they encounter. This will inevitably help you when you go on to do your PGCE as you will already have classroom experience and will be able to hit the ground running. It will also provide you with the advantage when it comes to applying for teaching jobs upon graduating from the PGCE as you will want to set yourself apart from everybody else by showing that you took the initiative to go out and gain additional experience before starting your training – thus showing you are committed to the teaching profession.

  • Pay: £425 - £475 per week based on 5 days a week (6.5 hour working days).
  • Full-time Teaching Assistant roles in Secondary Schools.
  • Excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience for getting into teaching.
  • University Graduates of any subject area encouraged.
  • Must be a confident person who strives off new challenges.

A lot of our graduates have worked as Teaching Assistants for anywhere between 1 term to a full academic year before commencing their PGCE. After completing their PGCE, many of them have been able to secure jobs back at the same school but as a teacher commencing their ECT (Early Careers Teachers) programme. By registering with Teaching Personnel, you will become eligible to any and all Teaching Assistant roles.

If you are interested in the above opportunity then please attach your most recent CV as a file below and someone from Teaching Personnel will then be in touch to discuss the next steps in regard to vetting and setting you up for work.
