About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and experienced Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the BL1 area of Bolton. This role has a strong focus on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a Key Stage 1 (KS1) setting.

Starting from May half term, this is a full-time position through to the end of the academic year, with the opportunity to continue into the next academic year for the right candidate. The successful applicant will play a key role in helping children with additional needs access learning, develop confidence, and thrive in a nurturing classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs and abilities
  • Support pupils with a range of needs (e.g. ASD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH)
  • Deliver and reinforce phonics sessions tailored to pupils requiring additional support
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP targets and strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback on pupil development

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential
  • Experience working within KS1
  • Strong understanding of phonics and experience delivering interventions
  • Knowledge of different SEN needs and strategies to support them effectively
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
