Effective practical lessons begin with clear structure, organisation and a focus on developing essential life skills. As a Food Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that inspire students to develop their culinary skills, nutritional knowledge and understanding of food preparation, safety and hygiene.
- Teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Deliver practical cooking lessons that develop students' confidence and technical skills
- Teach food preparation, nutrition, healthy eating and food science concepts
- Ensure strict adherence to food hygiene and health and safety regulations
- Prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition coursework and assessments
- Manage ingredients, equipment and food technology resources effectively
- Deliver practical lessons with clear structure and organisation
- Encourage students to work independently and collaboratively in a kitchen environment
- Prioritise food safety, hygiene and a positive learning atmosphere
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement
- Experience teaching Food Technology, Food Preparation and Nutrition, or a related subject
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene, nutrition and practical cooking techniques
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to health and safety procedures
- Confident classroom management and the ability to engage students in practical learning
- Students consistently produce high-quality practical and written work
- Learners demonstrate confidence in food preparation, cooking techniques and nutrition knowledge
- Coursework and practical assessments are completed to a high standard within set timelines
- Lessons run smoothly, safely and efficiently, fostering student engagement and achievement
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable; however, we welcome applications from unqualified teachers, particularly those with engineering or design backgrounds.
