SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex regularly require flexible staff to support with short-notice absences and day-to-day classroom cover.

This is ideal for individuals who value flexibility and are open to working across a range of different SEND and SEMH environments.


A lot of this work comes through on the day, meaning:

  • Calls between 7:30am – 8:00am
  • Same-day placements
  • Flexible working patterns week to week
  • Different schools and classroom environments

If you need guaranteed hours every week, this role may not be the best fit.

If you value flexibility and variety, it can work very well.


  • Teaching Assistant and LSA cover
  • Behaviour and engagement support
  • 1:1 pupil support
  • General SEND classroom support
  • Day-to-day teaching cover

This role tends to suit people who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people

Access to a car is a major advantage due to the nature of day-to-day cover work.
