Are you looking to start a career in education, build experience as a Teaching Assistant, or return to school based work after a break?

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a number of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Ormskirk and Burscough, and we are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

These opportunities are particularly well suited to individuals who would value guidance, flexibility and a gradual approach to building confidence within the classroom.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils either within the classroom or on a 1:1 or small group basis, depending on school needs and your experience.

Support may include:

  • General classroom support alongside the class teacher
  • 1:1 SEN or EHCP based support
  • Small group learning interventions
  • Supporting pupils with behaviour, engagement and routine
  • Assisting pupils with additional needs such as ASC, ADHD or SEMH

Placements range from day to day supply to short term and longer term roles, with opportunities matched carefully to your availability, preferences and confidence level.

  • Are new to working in schools or education
  • Are returning to a Teaching Assistant role after time away
  • Are considering a long term career in education or SEN
  • Want flexible work while gaining valuable school experience
  • Prefer a supportive and structured school environment

  • Experience working with children or young people (school based or transferable experience)
  • A patient, caring and positive approach
  • Willingness to learn and adapt within a school setting
  • Good communication skills
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

  • Competitive hourly pay of £14.30 – £15.50 per hour, depending on experience
  • Flexible work to fit around your personal circumstances
  • Local placements in Ormskirk and Burscough
  • Ongoing guidance, support and honest feedback
  • Opportunities to progress into longer term or specialist SEN roles

We take the time to understand your background, goals and confidence level, matching you with schools that are supportive, organised and experienced in working with supply staff. You will always be placed in roles suited to you and never pushed into work you are not comfortable with.
