Family Support Assistant - Wokingham
Location: Wokingham, Berkshire
Working Arrangement: In-person - home and community based
Hours: 2.5 hours per morning, 4 mornings per week
Quantum Scholars are looking for a reliable, practical and supportive Family Support Assistant to provide assistance to a family in Wokingham. The role will involve mostly household support for a family with a young person accessing EOTAS provision.
A significant part of the role will be focused on keeping the home clean, tidy and organised, helping with day-to-day household tasks and creating a calm and structured home environment.
The role may involve:
- Cleaning and tidying the home and shared living spaces.
- Organising household items, belongings and learning spaces.
- Keeping the home organised and helping to maintain a calm, structured environment.
- Carrying out general day-to-day household tasks.
- Supporting with laundry and other light household duties.
- Preparing simple meals and carrying out light cooking.
- Helping with kitchen duties, including keeping the kitchen clean and organised.
- Taking a proactive approach to identifying household tasks that need completing.
- Providing practical support to the family with day-to-day organisation.
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the young person.
- Encouraging confidence, independence and positive routines.
- Working appropriately with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the young person's support.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
- Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the young person.
Essential requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, family support, care or similar setting.
- A calm, patient, empathetic and reassuring approach.
- Willingness and ability to carry out cleaning, tidying and organising tasks as a significant part of the role.
- Confidence with basic cooking and preparing simple meals.
- A practical, proactive and flexible approach to household tasks.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to build a positive relationship with the family.
- Confidence supporting the family of a young person who may experience high levels of anxiety or barriers to education.
- Professional and respectful approach when working within a family home.
- Reliable, consistent and able to commit to the required hours.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
- The right to work in the UK.
