EOTAS/AP Tutor - Hereford

Quantum Scholars are looking for a patient, supportive and experienced EOTAS/AP Tutor to provide personalised educational support to young people in Hereford.
The successful tutor will have experience supporting learners who may have struggled to access mainstream education and be confident adapting their approach to meet individual academic, emotional and behavioural needs. The role will focus on helping young people re-engage with education, rebuild confidence and make meaningful progress in their learning.
Experience working within EOTAS, Alternative Provision, SEND and/or SEMH settings would be highly desirable. We are particularly interested in tutors who are able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced significant barriers to education.
This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.
The role may involve:
- Providing personalised one-to-one educational support.
- Supporting young people accessing EOTAS or Alternative Provision.
- Supporting learners who may have disengaged from mainstream education.
- Planning and delivering engaging and accessible learning sessions.
- Adapting teaching methods, resources and pace to meet individual needs.
- Supporting academic progress across subjects appropriate to the tutor's experience.
- Identifying gaps in learning and providing targeted intervention.
- Helping young people re-engage with education and develop positive attitudes towards learning.
- Creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Supporting confidence, resilience, independence and motivation.
- Helping learners overcome barriers to education and learning.
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive engagement where appropriate.
- Encouraging positive routines and attitudes towards learning.
- Supporting GCSE or other relevant qualifications where appropriate.
- Monitoring progress and adapting support accordingly.
- Providing feedback to parents/carers and other professionals involved in the young person's support.
- Working collaboratively with families, schools and wider support teams.
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the young person.
- Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the young person.
Essential requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting learners with EOTAS, Alternative Provision, SEND and/or SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- Understanding of the barriers that can prevent young people from accessing mainstream education.
- Experience providing one-to-one tuition, mentoring or personalised educational support.
- Ability to adapt teaching and support to meet individual academic, emotional and behavioural needs.
- A calm, patient, flexible and empathetic approach.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust with young people who may have experienced difficulties within education.
- Confidence creating a positive, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Resilience and patience when working with learners who may be disengaged or reluctant to learn.
- Good organisational skills and a professional approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with parents/carers and other professionals.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
