About the Role

• Deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons tailored to individual needs
• Plan, prepare and assess work in line with curriculum expectations (up to GCSE Level)
• Adapt teaching strategies to support students with SEMH needs
• Build positive, trusting relationships with learners
• Work collaboratively with pastoral staff and external professionals
• Contribute to individual support plans and behaviour strategies

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have experience working with students with SEMH, SEND, or additional needs (desirable but not essential for the right candidate)
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
• Be patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient
• Understand trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches
• Have high expectations while maintaining a nurturing and flexible approach
• Show creativity in adapting lessons to re-engage reluctant learners

Essential Skills & Personal Qualities:

• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour in a firm but fair manner
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A consistent and structured approach to classroom management
• Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
