Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the English department and helping students to achieve their full potential. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and interactive English lessons, providing support to students both individually and in small groups.

  2. Resource Preparation: Helping to prepare teaching materials, resources, and displays to enhance the learning environment and support lesson delivery.

  3. Student Engagement: Encouraging active participation and engagement from students, promoting a love for literature and language through creative and innovative teaching methods.

  4. One-to-One Support: Providing additional support to students who may require extra assistance with literacy skills, reading comprehension, or essay writing, tailoring interventions to meet individual learning needs.

  5. Assessment and Feedback: Assisting with the assessment of student work and providing constructive feedback to help students improve their English skills and achieve academic success.

  6. Behaviour Management: Supporting the maintenance of a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting respectful behaviour and positive attitudes towards learning.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English or a related subject, with a genuine passion for English language and literature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Strong literacy skills and a good understanding of English curriculum requirements at secondary level.
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting teaching and learning in the classroom.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively within a team environment and respond to the needs of students and teachers.
