Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the English department and assisting students in developing their literacy skills and appreciation for literature. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Collaborating with English teachers to deliver engaging and interactive lessons, providing one-to-one or small group support to students who may require additional assistance with reading, writing, or comprehension.

  2. Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of teaching materials, resources, and literature texts for English lessons, ensuring they align with the curriculum objectives and cater to the diverse learning needs of students.

  3. Individualized Support: Providing targeted support to students with varying abilities, helping them to overcome challenges, build confidence in their English skills, and achieve academic success.

  4. Assessment and Feedback: Supporting teachers in assessing students' literacy skills, providing constructive feedback on written work, and contributing to the evaluation of students' progress and areas for improvement.

  5. Promoting a Love for Literature: Inspiring students to develop a love for literature and language through creative and stimulating activities, such as book discussions, poetry analysis, and creative writing exercises.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related field from a reputable university.
  • A genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting students' literacy development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students facing literacy challenges.
