You'll work closely with one student, delivering tailored Functional Skills English tuition that meets their individual learning needs and helps them develop essential literacy, communication and exam skills.

Central London
Flexible, Part-Time Hours - Perfect for the Summer Holidays
£30 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one Functional Skills English tuition.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit the student's individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Identify learning gaps and create personalised lesson plans to support progress.
  • Build the student's confidence in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and communication.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages independence and success.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • At least one year's teaching or tutoring experience in Functional Skills English.
  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A patient, flexible and encouraging approach to teaching.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt lessons to individual learning styles.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience supporting students with EHCPs.
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills English or literacy interventions.
  • Experience working within SEN settings, alternative provision or one-to-one tuition.
