Teaching Personnel is pleased to be recruiting for an enthusiastic and creative Design Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in Weymouth.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about practical education and enjoys encouraging students to design, create, experiment and solve problems. The successful candidate will become part of a supportive department and will contribute to delivering a broad and engaging Design Technology curriculum.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that allow students to develop their theoretical understanding alongside practical skills. The school is looking for a teacher who can create an environment where students are encouraged to be creative, take pride in their work and develop confidence in their abilities.

  • Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons across the relevant Key Stages

  • Teach a broad range of practical and theoretical DT content

  • Develop students' understanding of design processes and problem-solving

  • Encourage creativity, experimentation and independent thinking

  • Prepare practical resources and ensure lessons are delivered safely

  • Demonstrate appropriate use of tools, materials and equipment

  • Assess students' work and provide constructive feedback

  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching accordingly

  • Maintain accurate records of attainment and progress

  • Establish positive relationships with students

  • Promote high standards of behaviour and classroom expectations

  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Design Technology department

  • Contribute to wider departmental planning and development where appropriate

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or recognised teaching qualification

  • Strong subject knowledge within Design Technology

  • Experience teaching at secondary level

  • The ability to deliver engaging and practical lessons

  • Excellent classroom management skills

  • A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • The ability to differentiate effectively

  • A passion for developing students' creativity and practical skills
