Design & Technology Technician – Weymouth

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a practical and organised Design & Technology Technician to join a secondary school in Weymouth.

Working alongside the teaching team, the successful candidate will help ensure that the Design & Technology department is well prepared, safe and fully equipped to support practical lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons.
• Set up classrooms and workshops before lessons.
• Maintain tools, machinery and equipment.
• Ensure practical areas remain clean, organised and safe.
• Assist teachers during practical activities.
• Support students when using tools and equipment.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels.
• Assist with ordering and organising materials.
• Carry out appropriate maintenance and preparation work.
• Follow all school health and safety procedures.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Practical experience in DT, engineering, construction, manufacturing or a related area.
• Comfortable working with tools, machinery and practical equipment.
• Good understanding of workshop health and safety.
• Highly organised and reliable.
• Able to work effectively alongside teachers and support staff.
• Patient and approachable when supporting students.
• Good attention to detail.
• Previous experience in an educational environment is desirable but not essential.

This role would be particularly suited to someone with a practical or technical background who would enjoy supporting young people to develop their practical skills.

Teaching Personnel will provide dedicated consultant support and access to further education opportunities across the local area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
