We are seeking a reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic Secondary Cover Teacher to work across secondary schools in Aylesbury and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will provide high-quality cover teaching in the absence of regular classroom teachers, ensuring students remain engaged and learning continues effectively.

• Provide effective cover teaching for secondary school classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and learning materials effectively.
• Maintain continuity of learning and ensure students remain engaged throughout lessons.
• Manage classroom behaviour confidently and promote a positive, respectful learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and provide appropriate feedback on classwork and assignments.
• Adapt teaching approaches to suit different classes, subjects and student needs.
• Communicate professionally with school staff regarding student progress, behaviour and any classroom issues.
• Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures and behaviour management strategies.
• Maintain a safe, organised and supportive classroom environment.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Enhanced DBS clearance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong classroom management abilities.
• Good understanding of the secondary school curriculum.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and teaching styles.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject/field.

• Previous experience in teaching or a cover teaching role is preferred.
• Experience working within a secondary school environment is advantageous.

• Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience supporting students with different learning needs.

• Part-time hours on a contract basis.
• Work within secondary school settings across Aylesbury and the surrounding Buckinghamshire area.
• Potential requirement to travel between different school locations.
• Flexible opportunities may be available depending on school requirements and candidate availability.

The ideal candidate will be confident, dependable and adaptable, with the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with students and staff. You should be comfortable working in different classroom environments, delivering pre-prepared lessons and maintaining high standards of behaviour and learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
