Smile Education are currently recruiting for a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to work within a welcoming and supportive secondary school near Wolverhampton.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher. You will work closely with school staff to ensure students remain engaged, focused and motivated throughout the school day.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervising classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher and ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided.
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons and following lesson plans and instructions effectively.
- Maintaining a calm, positive and purposeful learning environment.
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
- Supporting students with their learning and encouraging positive attitudes towards education.
- Ensuring students complete assigned tasks and remain focused throughout the lesson.
- Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement, behaviour and work completed.
- Supporting students with additional needs where appropriate and helping to maintain an inclusive learning environment.
- Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
- Carrying out general duties associated with the smooth running of the school day when required.
The School Are Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school environment.
- Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role is desirable.
- A confident, calm and professional presence in the classroom.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage behaviour effectively and maintain high expectations.
- Confidence supervising classes across a range of subjects and year groups.
- Flexibility, reliability and a positive approach to working as part of a school team.
- A genuine commitment to supporting students' learning, development and wellbeing.
- An understanding of the importance of creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
