Are you confident leading a classroom and passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Cover Supervisor to join a specialist SEN Secondary School in Oldham.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous school-based experience who is looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people while gaining valuable experience within a supportive specialist setting.

As an SEN Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.

You will support secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties, helping to create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

✅ Supervise whole classes and deliver pre-set lessons across a range of subjects

✅ Support students with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties

✅ Maintain classroom behaviour in line with school policies

✅ Promote a calm, safe, and productive learning environment

✅ Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies when required

✅ Encourage student engagement and participation throughout lessons

✅ Take registers and follow safeguarding procedures at all times

✅ Work closely with teaching staff and provide feedback following lessons

✅ Support individual students and small groups where necessary

✔ Previous experience working in a school or classroom setting

✔ Experience supporting secondary-aged students, ideally within SEN settings

✔ Background as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role

✔ Confidence leading classes and managing behaviour independently

✔ Understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties

✔ Strong communication skills, resilience, and adaptability

✔ Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a professional, reliable approach to work
