We are seeking to appoint professional, dependable, and confident Cover Supervisors to support a number of secondary schools across Salford. These positions are well suited to individuals with strong transferable skills and a sound understanding of the UK secondary education system.

Cover Supervisors play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absence by supervising classes, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring that pupils remain focused on pre-set work.

  • Supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff
  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials in line with school policies
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Supporting pupils to engage with learning activities and complete assigned tasks
  • Liaising professionally with teaching and pastoral staff as required
  • Upholding safeguarding, health and safety, and school procedures at all times

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a good working knowledge of the UK secondary school system
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Be confident working with pupils aged 11–16 (or 11–18, depending on school)
  • Show adaptability, resilience, and professionalism in a school setting
  • Have experience working with young people or in a role requiring leadership and authority
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one

A formal teaching qualification is not required; however, relevant experience within education or youth-focused environments is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
