Are you an experienced education professional with the confidence to lead a classroom and a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs? Teaching Personnel is looking for a committed SEN Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive specialist secondary school in Oldham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous school-based experience who wants to make a meaningful impact while developing their skills within a specialist SEN environment.
As an SEN Cover Supervisor, you will oversee lessons during teacher absences, delivering pre-planned learning activities and ensuring students remain focused and engaged throughout the school day.
You will work with secondary-aged pupils who have a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, and moderate learning difficulties, helping to create a structured, positive, and inclusive learning atmosphere.
✅ Deliver pre-prepared lessons and supervise classes across a variety of subjects
✅ Support students with a range of SEN needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
✅ Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
✅ Foster a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment
✅ Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques when required
✅ Encourage participation, confidence, and engagement in learning
✅ Complete registers and follow safeguarding procedures at all times
✅ Liaise with teaching staff and provide feedback on lesson progress
✅ Provide additional support to individual students and small groups where needed
✔ Previous experience working within a school or educational setting
✔ Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils, ideally in an SEN environment
✔ Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or similar role
✔ Confidence managing a classroom independently
✔ Understanding of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
✔ Strong communication, resilience, and adaptability
✔ A professional approach with a sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
