Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident, organised and reliable Cover Supervisor to support secondary and specialist schools in Oldham. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to further develop their classroom and behaviour management skills.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-set work, maintain classroom discipline, and ensure students remain engaged in their learning.

This role suits individuals who are comfortable leading groups and able to manage behaviour effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Ensure a calm, purposeful and productive learning environment
  • Address low-level disruption and apply de-escalation strategies when needed
  • Support students with varying abilities, including those with additional needs
  • Take registers and follow school safeguarding procedures
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff after lessons

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience working with young people (essential)
  • Experience in roles such as teaching assistant, tutor, mentor, youth worker or coach
  • Confidence managing a classroom and leading groups independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to think on your feet
  • Good organisational skills and professionalism
  • Commitment to a full-time, long-term role

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a school or education setting
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies
  • Experience supporting students with SEN or challenging behaviour
